Habitat and range: Arid, rocky tracts of Rajasthan, Gujrat and Kamatka in India

Description: Commiphora Mukul ranges from a woody shrub to a small tree, with spirally ascending branches and small flowers ranging from brown to pink in color and are unisexual. Oval red fruit.

Part used: Gum Resin

Uses: Traditionally used in Ayurvedic remedies to treat obesity, rheumatic disorders, and arthritis. Approved by the Indian government for use in the treatment of high cholesterol.
