Camellia sinensis
Description: Known in China as cha it is a potent medicinal herb. The Chinese have been drinking tea since around 3000BC. Tea is a woody shrub with pale - dark green leaves under natural conditions reaching a height of 5-15 m. In cultivation usually 1-2 m tall.
Habitat: Tea grows under a variety of conditions from an equatorial to a humid, temperate climate.
Part Used: Leaves
Uses: Rich in fluoride, green tea can reduce the risk of tooth decay. It is useful for insect bites and to stem bleeding.
Green Tea has been shown to combat stomach and skin cancers and to boost the immune system.
